FAQs

1. What is the Montessori method?
The Montessori method emphasizes hands-on learning, individualized instruction, and a self-directed approach to education, fostering independence and a love for learning.

2. How does it differ from traditional education?
Montessori classrooms typically feature multi-age groups, free choice of activities within a structured environment, and a focus on practical life skills, sensory exploration, and language development. Traditional classrooms often involve age-segregated groups, whole-class instruction, and more structured learning activities.

3. Why multi-age classrooms?
Multi-age classrooms (e.g., 3-6 years old) allow children to learn from and with peers of different developmental levels, fostering peer mentorship, social-emotional growth, and individualized instruction.

4. Are Montessori schools religious?
No, Montessori education is secular and doesn't incorporate any religious teachings.

5. Is Montessori just for preschoolers?
While many Montessori programs begin in early childhood (Preschool/Primary), Montessori education extends through elementary, middle, and high school, providing a holistic approach throughout a child's development.

6. How is a Montessori classroom structured?
Montessori classrooms are organized into distinct learning areas with specific materials, fostering a sense of order and facilitating independent exploration.

7. How is learning assessed in Montessori?
Montessori education emphasizes continuous observation of the child's progress and development rather than traditional standardized tests or grades.

8. Are Montessori schools as academically rigorous as traditional schools?
Yes, Montessori schools offer a rigorous academic curriculum that prepares children for success in higher education and beyond.

9. How do Montessori students fare later in life?
Montessori graduates often demonstrate strong independent thinking, problem-solving skills, and a lifelong love of learning, contributing to their success in various fields.

10. Does my child need to be potty trained?

Yes, our license is for preschool and not childcare.  Your child needs to be potty trained, we understand there will be accidents and we ask for a change of clothes in their cubby in the event this happens.
